To ensure this year’s advent calendar is *truly* the gift that keeps giving, we’ve partnered with The Respect Project, a groundbreaking, evidence-based social education programme for young people aged between 11-18 years. Why? Because we know that we, as a beauty brand, need to do our part to challenge the beauty industry norm of pushing and perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards.
Currently, 35% of adults and 31% of teenagers in the UK feel ashamed or depressed because of their body image, and 80% of girls have already applied a filter or used a retouching app to change the way they look in their photos by age 13. The number of children being treated for eating disorders on paediatric wards in the UK has more than doubled in the last three years.
So, for the next year, we’re committed to sponsoring the delivery of personal, social and sexual education in schools across the UK with a focus on three key pillars: Self Respect, Social Respect and Sexual Respect. As founding sponsors, we will also be working closely with The Respect Project to spread awareness and report on progress.
We want to ensure access to accurate information and help provide the support to develop positive motivation and intent when navigating the beauty space – to encourage happy, healthy relationships between beauty and body image for future generations.
