HOW TO PROMOTE EYEBROW GROWTH
“Use a brow growth serum!” says Emily. “Free from hormones and containing ingredients such as provitamin B5 to condition brow hairs, biotin and cassia alata leaf extract to improve brow texture, Benefit’s Hubba Brow Serum and Whoa So Soft Brow Oil are specifically formulated to help condition your arches to promote fuller, healthier brows.”
The most common mistake people tend to make when growing out their brows? Picking up the tweezers at home and trying to reshape them themselves. This can easily turn into too many hairs being removed and therefore creating a thinner or uneven brow shape. “Over plucking can also cause damage to the hair follicle, leading to hyperpigmentation causing darkening of the skin. What’s more, getting tweezer happy can also cause infections in the hair follicle and lead to ingrown hairs.”
HOW DO YOU SHAPE EYEBROWS
Now that Emily has shared her secret on how to get thicker eyebrows, let’s move on to the best ways to shape your arches.
Everyone's eyebrows are unique to them, however there are a few rules when it comes to shaping them. Your brows should always start centred with the top ridge of your nose and your arch should be three-quarters of the way back.
A simple way to check this is to use your eyebrow pencil as an anchor on the side of your nose to figure out your shape. Place the pencil straight up and that should be where your brow starts, move it so it's in line with your pupil and that should be where your arch sits. Finally tilt the pencil from the side of your nostril to the corner of your eye and that is where the tail end of your brow should be.
HOW TO FILL IN YOUR EYEBROWS WITH BROW MAKE UP
1.Make sure your brows are clean and brushed up: this is important as it allows your pencil/wax/gel to adhere to the hairs and stay in place.
3.Start filling in: every brow formula is applied differently.
With pencils - softly line the base of your brow to mark the key shape and then fill in the interior. With a pomade- a little goes a long way so build your brow slowly. Use and angled brow brush and gently fill in your brows using small hair-like strokes. Pomade’s set quickly so are hard to blend if you make a mistake.A powder - is the quickest and easiest brow product to work with and ideal for beginners. Just dip a brush, tap away excess and blend, blend, blend into your brows!
Top tip: Always start in the middle of your brow and work your way outwards. Have a spoolie handy to quickly blend out your work and brush through brows to keep everything looking natural.
