Meet The Founder: Patrick Ta
Regarded as one of the most esteemed make up artists in the world right now, PATRICK TA is known for bestowing celebrities with the dewiest of make up looks. And now, thanks to his eponymous range, ‘Major Glow’ available exclusively at Cult Beauty, you get your glow on from home too.
Ahead of PATRICK TA's launch at Cult Beauty, we sat down with the brand founder and asked all the questions you could possibly want to know about this glow-giving brand that we've quickly fallen head over heels for.
{Patrick Ta} I created the Major Glow collection to celebrate all the women in my life. I really wanted to create products that empowered women and made them feel confident and beautiful in their own skin, which is how the women in my life continue to make me feel. I created Major Glow to provide you with all the products you could need to recreate my signature glowy look from head to toe.
{PT} For Her. For One. For All.
{PT} My products are developed to give you that red carpet glow, from home. They are made thoughtfully and authentically for every woman, for HER!
{PT} It’s hard to choose just one, but I love my {Major Glow Body Oil}. It smells delicious and contains squalane, so it’s super hydrating for the skin. It’s the perfect way to finish off a glowy look.
{PT} I don’t think you necessarily need to find a perfect highlighter shade. I like to have fun with highlighters, using multiple shades on different skin tones. I really like to match the colours of the make up to my client’s outfit. If they’re wearing a pink outfit, I will use a pinky highlighter to create a beautiful, monochromatic look.
{PT} The best tips I have for application is to make sure you target certain areas of the face where the light would naturally hit. My go-to spots are the tops of the cheekbones and the C around the temple - it’s naturally where the sun would hit the skin. Something that I love about my Major Glow Highlighting Mist, is that the spray is super fine so it falls naturally onto the skin, rather than a sparkle explosion.
{PT} I love a dewy look, but I completely understand not wanting to look greasy. For areas that tend to shine, I suggest applying a setting powder to help control and prevent any oil. It’s important to know your skin well enough to know where to highlight and where to avoid.
{PT} I don’t think I could live without my {Major Glow Highlighting Mist}. It’s the perfect highlighter because it gives a natural, lit-from-within glow while keeping skin looking like skin.
{PT} A common mistake that I see often, is when women over-do it with make up. It’s so important to remember that layering is key. If you spend the time slowly applying small amounts of make up at a time, you will avoid looking cakey.
{PT} Skin prep. Make sure you take the time to really moisturise and hydrate your skin before applying make up. This will guarantee a healthy and flawless finished look. It’s also no secret that highlighting the right areas of the face is key for an ultimate glow!
{PT} Definitely when Shay Mitchell found me on Instagram and requested I do her make up. I still get butterflies thinking about opening her DM. I’m so lucky she came into my life because she’s become an amazing friend and constantly inspires me.
{PT} My biggest career highlight would have to be the launch of {PATRICK TA BEAUTY}. I’m so proud of what I’ve created, and especially love seeing how much people are enjoying my products. It’s so fun to see people posting to their social media using PATRICK TA BEAUTY.
{PT} It’s too hard to narrow it down to one muse, since I work with so many beautiful, inspiring, and motivational women every day. They inspire me in different ways and I wouldn’t be where I am in my career without them.
{PT} Skincare, skincare, skincare! Make up is an amazing tool and can transform anyone, but taking care of your skin should be your number one priority. Make sure you cleanse your skin really well every night, find products that help hydrate and keep your skin looking and feeling amazing.
{PT} Don’t conform to rules in general. There are no rules in make up, it’s an expression of one's individuality. Create whatever makes you feel like the best version of yourself.
{PT} Use it to your advantage and go 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone for a healthy tan and glow.
{PT} I’ve always been interested in creating something beautiful. When I was younger, I thought I wanted to be an interior designer or chef, but it was my roommate in Arizona, who ultimately started my fascination of make up. She was always wearing make up and I admired the confidence she would gain from it.
{PT} I have some really exciting news that I’ll be sharing soon. I can’t wait!
