 The background on Coggles

Coggles was founded back in the early seventies by Victoria Bage and the story goes that she caught her husband having an affair with his secretary, Sarah Coggles. After divorcing said husband, Victoria went on to open her own clothing business, naming the store ‘Coggles’ to remind him of the mistake he made in losing her.

Five decades on and Coggles is home to over 200 designer collections as well as Coggles LIFE, your go-to for exclusive fashion interviews.

Everyday wardrobing

Think no-make up make up is on the out? Think again. According to the experts over at Coggles, this season we’ll see that aesthetic transfer into our fashion choices with a predicted rise in effortless dressing.

“The biggest message of the season is the notion of paired-back, everyday looks executed in best-in-class fabrics. We’re all about an effortless look that works for everyday life and being able to invest in timeless pieces that are made to last means we can buy less and buy better,” the experts tell us. “Think Parisian off-duty model or look to the queen of low-key dressing, Anine Bing.”

On your visit to Coggles, the experts suggest investing in relaxed blue denim, a classic trench, shirts and sweats. “These items might seem average at first glance but this season the quality and eye for detail makes these pieces worth the investment.”

Rebellion

If no-make up make up isn’t your thing then this next trend might be better suited, taking inspiration from nineties grunge.

“Vivienne Westwood’s passing certainly had an influence on designers this season with a non-conformist sensibility,” explains the fashion team at Coggles. “At Coggles we champion personal style and expressing ourselves through the way we dress. For us we love to see people dress for themselves, to put their own stamp on their looks. We’re forever influenced by the fashion outsider.”

“Whether it’s punkish tartans, deconstructed silhouettes, band t-shirts, gothic lace or dark florals, we’re championing the rebel this season, and we’re looking to nineties issues of iD magazine for inspo.”

Metallics

‘Tis the season to sparkle, so make sure you’re shining just as bright as your festive lights with this trend. “If there’s one thing you need this party season it’s a metallic or sequin party dress,” the Coggles team tells us, hinting at what seasonal fashion must-haves you can pick up on your visit.

“Granted, on face value it may not seem groundbreaking but there’s room to have fun this season with silver, gold and metallic brights which are sure to stand out in a sea of LBDs this party season.”
