The eyeshadow shades you need now

Unless you've just come back from three months in the outback (lucky you!) you can't have missed the recent pics of Margot Robbie looking A-MAY-ZING with yellow eyeshadow, an apricot-y blush and very little else. The colour du jour, she (and her make up artist Pati Dubroff), have turned the world on to eyeshadow's allure. Worn in a fresh, block-y, painterly way (more Rothko, less Rousseau), single shades washed over lids make a bold, modern statement - ideal for all those who want ALL the palettes but can't carve a 'cut crease' to save themselves (guilty).

{Yellow}

Hailed as the new 'millennial pink', sunshine-y shades were all over the catwalks and now they're all over our eyelids. Choose a matte hue and apply over primer to ensure the colour stays true. NYX Professional Makeup's {HD Eye Shadow Base} has a whisper of tint to help neutralise thread veins while granting a Velcro-esque base for make up. And steer clear of anything muted - this needs to be bright and canary coloured so be bold with your shadow and pair with a fresh, dewy base, brushed-up brows and a pinched-your-cheeks flush for max holiday vibes.

We love: Surratt Beauty's {Artistique Eyeshadow} in 'Serin', Anastasia Beverly Hills' {Subculture Palette}, Huda Beauty's {Electric Obsessions} and BLEACH London's bar-gain-ous {Louder Powder} in shade 'PH 3ma'

{Pink}

Although it's about to be knocked off its perch (rumour has it), baby pink's showing no signs of relinquishing its hard-won grip on our hearts (and our lives!). Surprisingly pretty, try using blusher to enhance your eyes - something pearlescent will instantly enliven sleepy peepers, or opt for a lip gloss to lend editorial 'edge' to your everyday look.

We love: Lime Crime's {Diamond Dew} in 'Paris', Anastasia Beverly Hills' {Eyeshadow Single} in 'Buon Fresco' or the pastel 'spots' in Too Faced's stunning {Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer}

{Lilac}

Having fallen out of favour, the beauty world has fallen back in love with lilac's prettiness. No longer seen as saccharine, avoid a hint of shimmer and adhere to matte or glossy, high-shine finishes to steer well clear of 'twee'. Follow make up artist {@katiejanehughes} lead - how gorgeous is her modern twist on lavender (pictured).

We love: ZOEVA's {Sweet Glamour Eyeshadow Palette}, Surratt Beauty's {Artistique Shadow} in 'Ravissante' and Beauty Bakerie's {EyesCream} in 'Sugarcoated' - especially when layered under Kevyn Aucoin's {Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss}

{Peach}

Everything's just peachy with an apricot-y eyelid. Perfect paired with summer skin, this grants a wash of warmth that 'lifts' and brightens tired eyes (just try it!). Opt for something juuuuust on the 'wearable' side of neon, and pair with brown mascara to help maximise the 'bushy tailed' effect.

We love: Too Faced's {Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Palette}, Lime Crime's {Venus Shadow Palette} or BY TERRY's ah-may-zing {Sun Designer Palette} in shade 'Hippy Chic'
