TIKTOK’S BEST PROM MAKE UP LOOKS

model surrounded by confetti and balloons

Prom season is upon us, which can only mean one thing…it’s time to get prepped, pampered and papped. Some would say the hardest part of getting ready for prom is finding the perfect dress, but we would have to disagree. For us, it’s all about prom make up.

With selfies and yearbook selects on the line, your prom make up look is destined to take the spotlight. From your complexion and contouring to lips and lashes, every little details counts. But, with so many beauty trends filling up your feeds, how do you decide what look to go for? Dolphin skin? Siren eyes? Diamond lips? There’s a TikTok trend for pretty much every step of your cosmetic routine.

Luckily for you, we’ve enlisted the help of the Cult Beauty team to guide you through the best TikTok inspired prom looks destined to take the crown.

THE BEST PROM MAKE UP LOOKS

THE EUPHORIA EVOLUTION

I’m still – and will always be – obsessed with the make up lewks served in the hit HBO series Euphoria (think audacious colours, winged eyeliner, and wearable rhinestones). So, if I could turn back time and hit prom night again, I would 100% replicate the show’s dramatic and somewhat ethereal make up. Get ready to grab the eyeliner and liberally scatter the gemstones; it’s time to party… Alice, Senior Copywriter

Follow the steps below to recreate Maddie’s iconic crystal constellation:

  1. Apply Danessa Myricks Beauty Colorfix 24hr Cream Colour close to your lash line, extending it towards the end of the brow, then blend it out with soft-bristle eyeshadow up brush
  2. Then, layer Danessa Myricks Twin Flames pigments on top, and blend it smoothly towards your brown bone.
  3. Next, wet NYX Professional Make Up Pro Angled Brush and use NARS’ Copper Cosmetic Voyageur eyeshadow palette to create the fierce flick.
  4. Now, it’s time to add some shine. If you’re wanting to make a statement apply five crystal rhinestones over the end of the wing in a V shape. Or, for a more wearable look, dab About Face’s Fractal Glitter Eye Paintsoftly onto lids and around eyes.
  5. Complete the look with a stroke of Benefit’s Roller Lash Lifting And Curling Mascara for a fluttery finish.

BLOWN-OUT BLUSH

The three second blown-out blush hack with Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Divine Blush in ‘Lovestruck’ has the power to give any prom glam the oomph it needs. I wish I had it in my make up bag back then. –Precious , Junior Copywriter

Make them blush by following the easy-to-apply steps below:

  1. Using Edy London’s Small Domed Blush Brush, sweep a light layer over the apples of your cheeks in a “C” formations from your cheekbones to your temples.
  2. Then, build the layer by repeating the above until you’re happy with the coverage.
  3. For a multidimensional effect, mix the colour and blend over your base blush, using the same “C” technique.

CUPID’S COMPLEXION

If only I had TikTok to guide me through my prom look. Swapping the crown for a halo, I would opt for the angelic skin trend. Think: shimmering skin, cherub-flushed cheeks, and subtle sparkles swept across your eyelids. Keeping with the heavenly theme, I would take the look one step further and compliment it with Cherub Lips – it is prom night after all.  – Trifonia, Senior SEO Copywriter

Cue the heavens and glisten all night long by following the steps below:

  1. Start by creating a seamless base. Follow your cleansing routine with a hydrating serum that leaves you with a dewy glow. Our go to? Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum.
  2. After this, mix a lightweight foundation (like IT Cosmetics CC+ And Nude Glow Lightweight Foundation And Glow Serum With SPf40) with Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Niacinamide Dew Drops and apply to XX face.
  3. Next comes the blush. Use Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand, applying it high on your cheekbones. Blend thoroughly until you achieve a soft pinkish hue.
  4. For your eyes, use Róen’s Disco Eye palette. Swirl your fingertip in a circular motion to activate the pigment. Then, using your fingertip, directly apply the colour to your eyelids.
  5. Finally, finish the look with a cupid pout. Use Too Faced’s Lip Injection Extreme Lip Shaper to overline the centre of your lips. Slowly drag the pencil from the corners of your moth down to the centre of your bottom and upper lip.

GLASSY, GLOWING AND GLAZED

The viral Danessa Myricks ColorFix in ‘Glaze’ is giving me prom night beauty – but in one easy step! I love the non-sticky texture and how the glazed doughnut look complements every skin tone and eye colour. It’s easy, effective, and bound to make a statement.  – Karishma, Social Media Manager

Get maximum results with minimal effort by following one simple step:

  1. All you need to do is apply the colour cream to your eyelids and build the layers until you achieve your desired hue.

DRAPED BLUSH

I love the over-blushed look using the Huda Beauty's Cheeky Tint Blush Stick . It gives that ‘just-got-back-from-holiday' glow, all ready for a prom night to remember! – Leah, Social Media Creative

Bring the drama to the dancefloor with a pop of colour by following the below.

  1. Once you’ve finished your skin care routine (we’re talking cleansing and moisturising), apply a light layer of foundation or tinted moisturiser. Products like Pixi’s H2O Skintint help the blush to stick, giving it a longer lasting effect.
  2. Now it’s time to select your shade. It is important to ensure that the shade you’re using pairs well with the rest of your prom make up look. If you’re wearing warm tones on your eyes and lips, it’s best to compliment it with a neutral shade on your cheeks.
  3. Lightly apply the blush on the apples of your cheeks. If your blush has a powder texture it’s best to use a brush, but if you’re using a creamy formula apply with a sponge for optimum results.
  4. Build the look and create the illusion of contouring by working up your way towards your temples, ending at the highest point of your cheek bones, just under the outer corners of your eyes.
  5. To make your look bigger, brighter, and bolder, blend the blush into your eyeshadow. With Spectrum Collections’ MA06 Marble Large Fluffy Shader Brush mix your blush seamlessly into the creases of your eye and connect it with the colours previously applied on your temples.
  6. Finally, to keep the powerful pigment in place all night long, set your look with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray.

Now, your prommake up look is on lock, it’s time to take to the dance floor and bust out your best moves. Alexa play Mr Brightside…
