A hand-luggage friendly 30ml, Escentric 02 Travel Size is housed in a beautiful, protective aluminium box to prevent leaks and in-transit breakage. Like its sister Molecule 02, Escentric 02 is built around ambroxan – a man-made version of the exceptionally rare (and correspondingly costly) Ambergris – an aroma-molecule that creates a sweet, warm, earthy base that’s combined with vetiver and muscone; a beautiful, cruelty-free musk. Orris, elderflower extracts and the jasmine-esque hedione then add an instant effervescence to the top note, creating a fresh ‘mineral’ effect. This is an optimistic, wear-anytime scent for men and women.
Although EM’s nose Geza Schoen has used ‘traditional’ perfumery ingredients to create Escentric 02, the way he formulates his fragrances makes the entirety of the Escentric Molecules range (01, 02 and 03) so contemporary, distinctive and alluring. For the 02s (both Molecule and Escentric), it’s all in the ambroxan, a synthetic version of something produced by whales (basically, a calcified ‘hairball’ that washes up on the beaches) that makes perfumers weak at the knees, and totally shreds any wallet. Escentric 02 has all the beauty of Molecule 02, with added complexity for those who like multi-facets to their fragrance. It’s the perfect scent to whisper your arrival and subtly prolong your departure.
Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Eugenol, Fragrance. Volume 80%.

On my skin, the Vetiver note is very dominant. I was hoping the Ambergris note would be more pronounced instead. So it becomes a sharper fragrance rather than a warm and comforting fragrance on me. Serves a purpose during warm weather though. A word about the aluminium protective box. I'm not too sure why it didn't register when I saw the photos, but it actually is a box with quite the sharp edge and corners. Yes, this does protect the fragrance as the glass bottle is cushioned within the box rather well, but the sharp metal edge may rip any soft clothing material (my t-shirt was ripped), or smash other more fragile items (e.g. concealer tube bottles) if you put it in your cosmetic bag.
