Disappointed

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

Although I’m a big fan of Drunk Elephant, I have to leave a complaint on this item. It’s a lotion type, and very oily on the whole face, you have to take more steps to clean your face. I think it’s only suitable to remove the makeup on the eyes area with a cotton pad. More micellar water items do a better performance than this one. Do not waste your money!

Not impressed

I would not call this a micellar water... It's really thick and doesn't leave your skin feeling clean at all. Definitely not an effective makeup remover - I go through about 20 cotton pads to take makeup off with this. Would not recommend.

Highly disappointing

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

To begin with, it is not micellar water, it's a light lotion; that wouldn't be a problem if they promoted it as such instead of labeling it as micellar water, as the consumer expects a specific functionality... And unfortunately, this product doesn't do the job. I was really pumped when I saw it, as I am a fan of Salai and really expected to use them together, but nop. It doesn't take all the makeup off (and I am just using the basics, no heavy makeup at all), and it makes my skin feel like I did something wrong as if it's not clean enough. Very strange feeling, it doesn't feel fresh at all. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it... If you would like to buy micellar water you can stick to something more effective and less expensive for the results it gives.

Not Worth Buying

This doesn't remove makeup and stings my eyes. Maybe it hydrates the skin but this doesn't make me feel my skin is clean. This simply doesn't do what I expect micellar water to do so I will stick with my old good Bioderma.

Who knew?!

I really very rarely go for a micellar water, I'm always a double cleanse kind of gal with a balm/oil for my makeup stage cleanse, and just find micellars to be a bit long-winded. Enter Drunk Elephant! This has a beautiful milky texture so it feels like it has a bit more to it than most watery formulations, it removes makeup seamlessly, I've even tested it on a bold red lip and it worked like a dream. It feels beautiful on your skin, it's particularly lovely in this heatwave we are getting as my first cleanse at night and feels so refreshing and cooling. I always cleanse after using it, even though you don't need to rinse, I just prefer to. The only time I might not is when I'm working out first thing and just want a light quick cleanse to remove my product before-hand. This has been a real favourite of mine recently and I never thought I would say that about a micellar formula! I wouldn't replace cleansing with this, but for quick makeup removal and refreshes before working out, this is amazing! My only issue is the packaging, I find it just slightly messy with it being so milky and coming out of a smaller dispenser, I feel like a pump up type bottle would be amazing for this so you can pump directly onto your cotton pad and avoid any spillage.

A pleasant surprise

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I'm a dry girl so normally micellar water is a no go for me because my skin just absorbs it and I feel like it doesn't actually clean my skin, but this one, wow, it's a slightly thicker texture, almost gel like leaving my skin feel refreshed and clean. I haven't used it in the evening to take off make up as I enjoy using this kind of cleanser in the morning as a refresh and went I do my skin looks supple and clean!

Irritated my skin

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

I was excited to try this after falling in love with some of DE's other products, but unfortunately I'm not enjoying this one as much. My skin turned pretty red after using it, and burned a little, which is weird because I don't have particularly gentle skin. Other that that I don't really care for the texture and it does struggle with heavier makeup, as other reviewers stated.

Nice but only for light cleansing and not really good value

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

It’s not a water it’s a lotion. I agree with other reviewers that it works fine on light make up. Note how many reviewers use this as only one of the steps in their cleansing routine so again, light make up use only. Actual miscellar water gives a deeper clean. It is gentle and creamy and does not dry out the skin. I think it is not really value for money though. I feel I would get much the same result with a standard unperfumed simple cleansing lotion which would be a fraction of the price but without the fancy packaging and name.

It’s okay

I needed something to replace my Glossier milky water makeup remover and wanted to try something new. Came across this and it’s definitely good for light makeup days - or if you come home after a couple drinks and don’t want to fully wash your face haha. Struggled to take mascara off with it, haven’t tried on red lipstick but feel like that would be a nightmare. Happy that it doesn’t leave a residue and doesn’t leave the skin feeling stripped, although it didn’t particular hydrate either. It claims that you don’t need another cleanser after and that’s definitely false - if I’m doing my routine after a day out with a full face I would use this as a first step, followed by an oil cleanser and a good acid toner. Will be going back to glossier.

Refreshing

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I usually opt for a cleansing balm or oil to remove my makeup in the evening but I do like having micellar water as an option if I'm only wearing a little bit of concealer or as a quick refresher. This has a slightly milky texture which I really like, it felt gentle on my skin and left it feeling really hydrated. I did try to remove my mascara with this but I found I was having to rub the eye area quite a bit and I still had lots of mascara left on my lashes. I really like using this on no makeup days or in the morning but if you are looking for a really effective makeup remover I would go for Slaai instead.
