I was so excited to try this since you hear so much great about DE, but this was just not a good product. Mine was kind of grainy/lumpy and I did have to work it into my skin for a while to get rid of the white cast. For reference, I'm the palest person anyone in my friend circles know, so I imagine anyone with skin darker than me will have their work cut out for them in that department.

Simply Great!

This is a lovely product! It's the only sunscreen that I can use directly around the eye area. It's not just a sunscreen but a wonderful moisturiser that minimises fine lines. In short, I love it!

Okay but grainy

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

I don't like it. I have a medium olive-toned complexion (similar to Salma Hayek) and it left a slight white cast. I don't like the feel of it, it feels very heavy on the skin, and a bit oily and sticky to touch. This is not for the summer months nor a humid climate. Will instantly make you sweat. The worst part is within 1 month of opening the bottle, it has started to have grainy bits in it. I'm not sure how efficacious that makes this sunscreen now. The texture was not like this when I first opened it. It also started to pilling on my skin as I was applying it, I didn't have any serums or moisturisers underneath either so it had to be the sunscreen. I Will not be purchasing again.

Did not work for me

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I have rosacea, and I was hoping this sunscreen will work for me, but, unfortunately, at the end of the day my skin is very irrirated and feels burned :( I tried two times. I applied it on top of revolution niacinamide serum and paula's choice calm restoring moisturiser. Will use this sunscreen for my body instead.

Nice sunscreen

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought this as the ingredients sounded very good and I liked the fact it uses minerals rather than so many chemicals. It feels nice on my skin and goes onto it very smoothly. It does initially leave a white cast but this mostly disappears once lightly massaged in. I have pale skin with some light brown pigmentation in places. Will buy again.

Great sunscreen

No white cast if you massaged into skin, little bit oily when applied, but after few minutes oilyness is gone. Amazing ingriedient list, but recommend for normal to dry skin.

Disappointing

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I didn’t like this product at all. It feels thick and heavy on the skin and it leaves a white cast (I have a light to medium complexion). I am very disappointed. I am glad that I have decided to try a mini before purchasing the big bottle.

Complicated... But worth it if you have sensitive skin.

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I have sensitive, combo skin. So far, this is the only sunscreen that does not seem to break me out much, if at all. For this reason, I hope it never gets discontinued, although it's not perfect, hence all the bad reviews. It does pile if you're not careful (and even if you are quite frankly…). It can also be very drying if I use more than a finger’s length. Here is how I've managed to make it work: I apply less than I did at first, over a spritz of pure water and/or face oil. But it will dilute the protection a little. That’s fine for Paris’ winter or early spring, but I’ll try something different when summer comes. Zinc oxide makes this sunscreen extremely astringent. On the upside: it may have helped unclogged my skin. I usually have irregular texture, T-zone covered in tiny closed comedones, some small whiteheads. All that got much better. The white cast is something, even on my very pale ‘celtic’ skintone. As I don’t own a bronzer, I think I will either buy the Tinte version and/or the d-bronzi and mix it all up (the bronzi is said to me emollient): it may help cancel both the chalky look and the drying effect. All in all, to make it work *potentially* better, I would have to buy two to three products. Ehm. But it gives such a pretty radiant look when applied correctly that now, I forgo makeup altogether. I was told I looked good, well-rested. In a nutshell, this is a complicated sunscreen that I’d treat as a medication for sensitive skin that can’t tolerate any other one. I’ll keep using it until I find another one.

I really wanted to like this, but it is a no from me. It pills and rubs off in balls on my face no matter what I wear underneath, not for my skin at all. I’ve tried a number of different ways to use this but no can’t get it to sit nicely on my face.

Perfect for me

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought it despite all the bad reviews as I love all the DE products and I don't regret it.I start by saying that I have a very fair/pale skin tone and I don't have any white cast when use it.It leaves my normal to dry skin hydrated and no problem under any makeup product : no changes in performance or pilling. The list of ingredients is really good and I've noticed a better appearance in my complexion compared to the previous SPF I used.
