If youre living in London, chances are that youve passed the Earl of East stores and done a double take: picture a haven of plants, plush pillows and their all-famous home fragrances. Formed around four pillars Create, Curate, Collaborate and Community the lifestyle store-cum-studio is beloved for its in-store candle-pouring and workshops. What started in Hackney as a succinct edit of candles has since evolved into a line of home fragrance favourites that spans across bath salts, incense and aromatic mists. Beyond their effortlessly chic vessels and refined typography, the candles are made from an eco-soy blend of high-quality, raw materials from ethical suppliers; co-founder Niko Dafkos assures that their work does not contribute to deforestation and respects the rights of workers and indigenous people. Which scent are you adding your space?
Refresh your hands (and luxuriate in a decadent scent with each breathe) with the Japanese Bathing Ritual Hand Wash from Earl of East. One of their classic releases, this decadent formula works into a fragrant lather that will have you wanting to wash your hands over and over again. Available in two therapeutic aromas, the only hard part is picking your favourite...
Taking its name from the Japanese word for hot spring and emulating the very same sense of serenity that makes the onsen a cultural tradition, the Onsen scent profile has an uplifting medley of peppermint, eucalyptus and neroli that alludes to the relaxing and rejuvenating qualities of the practice. The Shinrin Yoku literally forest bath in Japanese scent is an ode to the practice of disconnecting from our fast-paced world, being in nature and absorbing the peaceful atmosphere of the woods. It has an earthy profile of cedarwood, black pepper and oakmoss that conjures the image of a forest floor after the early morning rain abates.

Wonderful scent
I’m a fan of woody scents, and this hand wash smells amazing.

Nice
This is a nice smelling handwash that does make my hands feel clean ... but... it's weirdly runny, I keep nearly missing my hands with it. Still a very nice purchase

Aesop dupe?
I normally love an Aesop soap but for the kitchen, it doesn’t last very long! This is a great, cheaper alternative. The scent is fresh and the glass bottle looks much nicer than the plastic from Aesop.

Shinrin Yoku
This makes me want to wash my hands more, it smells like I’d imagine Jon Ham’s character in Mad Men would - masculine, woody and expensive... with a slight hint of whiskey. Love the bottle design, how gently it is on skin - even the 10th time in a day - I love that it’s produced in London by a brilliant indie brand with integrity and just can’t get enough of that smell. Grrrr

I wanted to try the other scent but it was sold out...I'm not too keen on this scent BUT I'm impressed that it comes in a glass bottle (no plastic leaching in). Bonus: just one use left me with baby smooth hands!
