It's talc free, it's not chalky, it looks lovely on. I have very dry skin so I can't comment on mattifying effect, but it didn't dry my skin out which is a plus. I prefer to use a brush to apply it, don't like it with the sponge (I didn't know it had a sponge until I almost finished it)
