I trialled this, Oudgasm Vanilla Oud, and Utopian Vanilla Coco. This is my favourite, then Vanilla coco, then Oudgasm Vanilla Oud. The reverse result to what I expected... although... after an hour, they are settling in rather nicely with their own stories to tell that could be used at different times of the year and day/night.. These are great fragrances in the mid range of what I would call GOOD perfume. Trouble is, I want to trial them all... and live in the sticks with no hope of a Harvey Nichols coming to town! Enjoy...

Unexpected, lush but underperforming scent
On first impressions, presentation is high quality. The box is unique with metallic print and the glass bottle is nice and weighty with a secure fitting lid. It feels and looks luxury. The fragrance is not what I expected. This is not a true vanilla fragrance at all. It is most definitely a rum and brown sugar fragrance that settles in to rummy vanilla on the skin. You do have to give this one a chance to develop on the skin for about an hour, it does become less rummy and more vanilla overtime but initially, you don’t really smell vanilla, it’s brown sugar and rum. It is quite unique, it’s sophisticated and sexy, grown up vanilla, rather than sickly sweet, artificial, candy vanilla. I’d say it is unisex, men that gravitate towards sweet and smoky Vanille fragrances, would probably like this. It’s an all year round fragrance because although warm, it is delicate and light. It’s date night or any occasion kind of fragrance. It’s just not the sweet gourmand vanilla you think it’s going to be. As a scent, it’s a rum sweet, warm, all rounder. It has the potent to be something special but, for me it doesn’t live up to the expectations I had for this. It doesn’t have a lot of depth and it doesn’t wear well. After a couple of hours, the scent is gone on me. Others can probably still smell it but it’s very subtle. I’d say this has the performance of an EDT, not an eau de Parfum. I’m really disappointed by this, as a quality scent, it should be deeper, project and last better than it does. It’s very watery. Also, the spray nozzle is a bit sloppy. I noticed how much perfume each spray uses. A lot! It sprays a big cloud of perfume which goes everywhere, not just on you. If you spray to close to your skin, it just runs off you because there’s so much being released at once and it’s watery. This is wasteful, as you lose a lot of product quickly. In only a few sprays, a significant dent in the bottle has been made, around a 5th in 3 or 4 uses. Also, having to reapply several times a day because the scent does not last, this perfume will be gone in no time. Not great value for money at all and disappointingly under performs, especially compared to the hype. For these reasons I think it is way overpriced. The performance does not match it’s looks. All that said, it is a nice unique rum sugar scent. The more I wear it, the more it grows on me. I just wish it had more staying power, depth and projection, as it would be a stunner if it did.
