Hinoki scent
The second ingredient in the shampoo is sls. So if you're avoiding that then don't buy this shampoo. This will clean your hair, it's not a moisturizing shampoo. So use a high moisture conditioner after if you have dry or curly hair. I used the same scent conditioner after and my hair felt good but they need more styling and moisturizing products. Just these two don't cut it for definition. The smell is pleasant like an earthy spa smell. But the smell is faint and doesn't last long. There's better out there for the price. You're paying just for the name.

Obsessed with this!
I’m addicted to the smell of Le Labo Hinoki, as they don’t do a perfume I use the shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body and hand cream! I love using the shampoo, lathers and cleans well. Combined with the conditioner my hair smells amazing.

Prefer the conditioner
I loooove Le Labo's conditioner, but was left a little disappointed with the shampoo. It smells great, but I feel that other shampoos are better at clarifying.

Le Labo Basil Shampoo
I have just reviewed the conditioner and would say the same for this - lovely fresh smell, great to use with matching conditioner, lasts forever! Cult Beauty deliver is super quick and eco which really floats my boat plus their discounts are fab!

Smells great, not a good shampoo though
I tried a sample of this and I loved the smell so I thought I would try the full size. On the plus side it still smells great, its a green woody smoky smell thats so lovely, however as a shampoo its quite poor. I find it very drying, it made my scalp very flaky and also made my hair quite rough and sort of poofy/frizzy, even my partner who never notices these things said my hair looked a bit 'big and messy' - I do have long thick hair, maybe it would be better for fine hair as a volumising shampoo? To be honest I wasn't expecting it to be a good shampoo, you are basically paying for the Le Labo name and the smell so i'm not that disappointed but as its quite expensive I don't think i'd buy again. I will just use a little bit every now and then to get the lovely smell and rely on other shampoos most of the time

Strong smell, Itchy Scalp
I was excited to try my sample of hinoki shampoo since I love woody/muskier scents, and am looking for a new shampoo. However, for some reason, it did smell stronger than I thought it would (more than I would have liked fo be honest), and it for some reason made my scalp itch. I don’t have a particularly sensitive scalp, but this shampoo did make me itch quite a bit telling me that I may have had a reaction to one of the ingredients, or there is simply too much fragrance in it? Bottom line is, I probably wouldn’t recommend this to a friend, there are much better shampoos out there that also don’t have such a strong fragrance.

Loving the Hinoki scent
LeLabo Hinoki shampoo reminds me of that distinct sharp woody smell in your hair after being near a bonfire, in a good clean way. it's warm and woody and delicious. makes my shower feel more natural and less .. bright white tile.
