Perfectly androgynous, the Replica By The Fireplace Eau De Toilette is a snapshot in time – a bottled memory of ‘burning wood and chestnut’, made with fruity, spicy, sharp top notes of pink pepper, orange flower petals and clove oil. Like a pile of fresh firewood, the scent boasts earthy, heady middle notes of chestnut accord, gaïac wood oil and cade oil – balanced with sweet base notes of vanilla accord, Peru balsam and cashmeran, like toasted marshmallows in front of a dancing flame. I wasn't expecting to like this fragrance as much as I do, and I wish I'd bought the full size bottle. The fragrance is definitely unisex and smells no way near as smoky as I thought it would. The only reason I didn't get a larger bottle was because I was concerned it would smell ashy (like a literal fire), which it doesn't. This is a comforting fragrance indeed. I have two gripes, one of which is that the design of the bottles are such that they don't have lids meaning that I won't take this fragrance away with me anywhere. The other gripe is that I think they are overpriced, as they are only in edt formulation. You can buy some beautiful niche perfumes for the same price, and I do not categorise Maison Margiela as niche at all. I can understand their popularity, but there are better fragrances out there for much better value in terms of either edp or extrait formulation.

Smells absolutely Devine
Definitely an acquired smell I don’t think this would be for everyone however for me it’s so incredible. I know it’s rather expensive however completely worth it I bought the small size and will definitely be buying be big size it smells so beautiful like a strong burning fire and dark woody chestnuts with very light notes of vanilla and orange that just fits in so perfectly with the other aspects of the fragrance. Oh and on top of this lasts all day in fact i even smelt it on the sweater I was wearing with it 3 days after lol!

This perfume has a very good base and intention, but unfortunately is extremely subtle -- I was expecting something more intense especially from the Fireplace concept -- quite disappointed, the White Company has a house fragrance called Fireside which in my opinion is way more superior than this perfume; and that is much cheaper too.. really wanted to love this.

Smoke and Fire
I'm a big fan of Margiela perfume and also love really heavy scents. This smells fantastic, but it is just a tad too authentic for me. It really does smell just like an open fire. The first time I wore it we were going out for dinner. I came downstairs and my husband was frantically checking the kitchen, all the rooms etc. He asked me what was burning? I have to say this diminished my attraction to the perfume. I gave it to my daughter (who didn't mind smelling like a fireplace!) and bought myself a new bottle of Jazz Club instead.

Perfection
This is my favourite perfume of all time. I grew up camping a lot, so wood smoke is a very nostalgic scent for me. This hits just the right notes, with strong wood smoke and undercurrents of cedar. It's such a comforting scent that when I'm stressed or can't sleep, I'll spritz a little bit on my chest and pillow.
