Doesn't work as cleanser
I received a generous sample pot in my Cult Beauty Box (fabulous by the way) and am astonished at the positive reviews. As a cleanser it simply doesn't work. A pea sized dollop of this sticky formula is nowhere near enough to cover the face and the stiffness of the texture is hard to rub into the skin without dragging. I found a single application made little impression on shifting a day's make-up. As a masque applied after full cleansing, it is a different story. I personally am not keen on the smell, but it left my skin silky soft when removed with wet cloth after 10 mins. Not sure it is worth the hefty price tag but it needs marketing as a luxury masque not cleanser.

Pleasant experience however
Smells lovely, feels really nice when used with a little water as a cleanser. Bit sticky when used as a mask. But it really doesn't clean skin that effectively. After a week of twice daily use my pores looked a bit clogged and grey. And it does leave a bit of a dry, tight feeling. Bit of a triumph of style over substance unfortunately.

Indulgent winter delight.
I got a sample pot of this in the Cult Beauty Best of 2015 Box - which incidentally is a joy. I haven't used this as a cleanser because I only have a sample pot and with such an expensive and luxuriant product I felt it would be better to use it in a way that stayed on my skin for the longest time. This product is sumptuously thick and creamy (I agree a slightly sticky cream but it does contain honey so I would expect this). The smell, as several reviewers have stated, is utterly sublime - to me it smells of rich, deep, dark musky honey. I use this once a week while I'm having a bath. I leave it on for about twenty minutes and then simply rinse it off. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft, calm and moisture filled (but not in a quick fix watery way). I have dry and dehydrated skin and I don't need to use a moisturizer after it. In fact, I would feel that the mask would be a bit ill-used to use anything after it. I've just used it after developing a nice big, red, shines hormonal spot and it has undoubtedly diminished the redness. Honey is a well know healer. It feels so good to use this during these dreary grey days, it seems perfect for winter. The reason I've given this four rather than five stars is because of the price. I'm delighted to have tried it and the sample pot is tiny but it is certainly enough for about 12 uses, which in my mind is enough to see if it's effective for your skin type. When this pot is finished I will miss this but price, I'm afraid, makes it prohibitive for me.

Smells heavenly but doesn't clean that well
I had really high expectation of this lovely sounding product, and when I opened the bottle I was not disappointed - it smelled heavenly! Some say it smells of chocolate, but it smells more like Baileys to me - yummy!! It also feels very luxurious and I do love dipping my fingers into the pot to scoop out the cream. However, it's not a very effective product. I had difficulty using it as a cleanser - it is very thick, so I had to scoop out quite a bit to cover all over my face without too much tugging. After which, it was very hard to remove traces of the product. Upon toning my face, I could still see traces of brown. I tried using it as a mask. It smelled lovely, but I am not sure if it did anything for my complexion. I broke out after using it, so have gone back to using it as a wash. In my opinion, it's best used as a first cleanse, as you definitely need to cleanse your skin again after washing it off (unless I'm not doing something right??). I won't be buying this again despite it being such a lovely product. It's really really dear and I'll make it last as long as I can, but I am up for trying something else that hopefully can also work very effectively. There are so many products out in the market, the competition is stiff!

Can't live without
My skin is very sensitive and I have suffered with acne since a child. Nearly every cleanser I have used has made my skin even more sensitised or has made my acne worse. Even products that seemed to have worked to begin with ended up doing this to my skin, but not the Honey Mud Cleansing Silk. I have been using this product every day for the past year and it has helped my skin in leap and bounds. It helps with my dry skin, clears out my pores and has helped keep boils at bay. I have found that even my monthly hormonal boils have dramatically reduced since using this product. Another thing I love about this is that you can use it as a mask. When my skin is really bad and just a normal cleanser wouldn't do, I put this on as a mask and my skin is instantly calmed and back to normal. I will continue to use this product for the rest of my life (as long as it never disappears!).

Better as a mask
I agree with the reviewers who prefer to use this product as a gentle cleansing mask. Honey to moisturize and soothe, and clay to cleanse, my skin feels smooth and soft afterwards with a pleasant glow. The scent can be quite heady at first, but I find that I do not mind it.

Update 6 months on!
I have now been using this for approx six months and am as in love with it as I was from the start. I have noticed a few critical comments and just wanted to set the record straight. Yes it is very thick, lusciously so, that's because as a daily cleanser you use it on damp skin, I would say almost wet. You only need a tiny amount, working it in and flanneling it off. Used this way, firstly it goes on smoothly. Secondly it cleans beautifully removing makeup and cleaning pores. Thirdly it leaves skin beautifully hydrated and silky soft. Finally it lasts an age, I'm still not through my first jar. It should only be used on dry skin when used as a mask, a lovely treat, the smell being so gorgeous and the effects are dramatic, lovely plumped up skin that doesn't feel like I need moisturiser straight away, most cleansers with clay have my skin running, screaming for moisturiser!!! It's also great used with either the problem solver or clean dirt, adding an extra hydrating property to both these delicious products. So please don't be put off with the comments about it being too thick, you have to play about a bit to find just how damp your skin has to be but once you have this nailed. It really is the most amazing cleanser I've ever used and since converting to all Mays line up my skin has never looked better.

Deliciously luxurious cleanser
I rotate a lot of cleansers in my everyday skincare routine and this is definitely one of my favourites! The texture is like silk and so velvety -it feels so luxurious when massaged into the skin. Not only does it feel beautiful, it smells divine and good enough to eat! Once rinsed off the skin, it leaves it soft and glowing. I may have to buy another as back up soon!
