Just ok
This didn't do a single thing for me. Has a lovely texture and very pleasant to use, but I was expecting some reaction from this (flakiness to show it's working), particularly for such a high level of retinol. Didn't notice any visible difference either.

Disappointing
To be honest I have fairly nice skin apart from melasma on my cheekbones and forehead, I don't suffer with breakouts and have wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. I'm 39 years old and i have sensitive skin. This is the first time I have ever tried retinol and purchased it to see if it would fade my melasma. I purchased my first bottle in October 2018 and used it for 7 months until summer returned. During this time I noticed the lines around my mouth were less noticeable but I stopped using the product throughout the sunniest months as I didn't want to make my melasma worse, I wear good high factor sun cream throughout summer and then started using the retinol again around October 2019. I have to say apart from the lines around my mouth this product has done nothing else, if anything i have very faint forehead wrinkles since using this, my melasma has always faded slightly throughout the colder months, I didn't notice any increase in the amount it faded while using retinol. I have a tiny bit left in the bottle and will use this up and then try a different retinol. It saddens me, I really wanted this to work.

My go to product
This is my second bottle of Paula’s Choice Retinol and wow this product gives me results! You obviously need to start off using the product slowly (I know we all want results quick!) but don’t be tempted to use this every night until your skin gets used to the product. And importantly remember to use your SPF too! (You don’t want to reverse the good things Paula’s Choice Retinol does for your skin!)

Great but not for me
This is such a good product, but kept breaking me out. I have pretty congested pores, so I think it was probably purging, or maybe it was a bit oily, but I got through a whole bottle and it never changed. So I need to address my congestion/borderline acne with a different product I think. However, the formula is so high quality and has great ingredients. It goes on like a lotion, with a hint of oiliness which would be great for dry or mature skin. Despite the breakouts for me, the overall tone and discoloration improved. While I won't buy again, I think it could work wonders for dry, sensitive, mature skin that doesn't have underlying blemish/congestion/acne problems.

Good product
I normally use retinoids as they are gentler and I occasionally tried some retinol products without committing to them. I've been using this for a few months now, not on a daily basis - my skin gets dry and flaky after a couple of consecutive uses at night time, so I alternate with a retinoid product. I have no complaints about it, it absorbs really well, no odd or bad smells that others here refer to and it's not as harsh as some other retinols I've used before at 1%. I like it.

Great Serum
Been using this in the minis now for 6-7 months, it's definitely worth the price and a good quality serum!

It smells of nasty spoiled cosmetics. There is no perfume in the serum; there is the smell of rotten oil. Yes, serum is very oily. Whether it works at all is a very controversial thing, but it does not cause pleasant emotions.
