This gentle cleanser is anything but ordinary, removing make up and impurities as it retains your skin's moisture – unlike some harsher cleansers, there's no need to worry about tightness after using this. Star of the show is squalane, a first-class hydrator that's found naturally in the skin, helping to prevent loss of moisture and boost suppleness. This combines with other lipophilic esters to dissolve make up and unwanted grime for clean and clog-free pores. The hard-working formula feels balm-like when first applied, changing to a clear oil-like texture when warmed into your skin – an important feat that allows emulsifying sucrose esters to capture the dissolved make up and dirt and rinse them away. Free from soap, which can cause irritation or 'strip' the skin, this crowd-pleasing cleanser respects your complexion's natural epidermal lipids, making it suitable for all skin types – even sensitive ones.

Impressed
I wasn't sure quite what to expect given the relatively low price, but I've been so impressed with this cleanser! A week into using it and it's already become a staple for my super sensitive combo skin. I only occasionally use light makeup (no foundation) but lots of SPF and this has done the job in cleaning all of that for me.

Good but not the best
It’s a good product and it feels nice when you washed it off. I’m not a big fan of the texture and it’s not the best cleanser.

Effective cleanser
I’d read a lot of varied reviews about this cleanser before buying it. I’ve always liked The Ordinary products and this cleanser doesn’t disappoint. I don’t wear a lot of make up on my face but do wear quite a lot of mascara and eye makeup. I’d read some reviews that say it doesn’t get rid of heavy makeup well, but I’d disagree-it gets rid of it all! I use a bamboo cloth soaked in warm water to take it all off after I’ve rubbed the product into my face and it works really well. I don’t feel the need to warm the cleanser my hands first as the instructions say as I feel that running it into my face has the same effect. It doesn’t feel quite as luxurious or nourishing as other cream cleansers I’ve used (that cost 3/4 times the price!) in that the bamboo cloth feels rougher on my skin after using this cleanser. However, it does the job just as well as more expensive cream cleaners and for the price, I can’t complain!

I've been using this cleanser for a week now and I'm blown away. The overall complexion and redness of my skin has faded in such a short time. I use this on an evening before I get in the shower (you apply to dry skin) then wet and use my usual aloe foam cleanser and it's just made such a difference. My new staple.

Wish it didn’t run out so easily
I really love this cleanser! I use it to take my makeup off and it gets the job done. The directions are to melt it into an oil in the palm of your hands but this never happens for me and it wastes product, I’ve just got to put it straight into my face. I also wish it didn’t run out so easily and the product could be a smidge bit bigger! It’s very gentle and doesn’t aggravate my skin or cause spots like other oily cleansers to have. It also doesn’t leave a horrible oily film on your face! I’ve seen lots of people use it as a morning cleanser as well and may give that a go as it’s so gentle.

Amazing product. Squalene is such a good fatty, emollient for the skin, so this removed impurities beautifully whilst hydrating. I initially thought it might be too small a product however the properties of squalene allow for fluidity and easy spread across the skin meaning a little really does go a long way.

Stings eyes like crazy
Wanted to love this, so many good reviews and so affordable. Worked nicely on my face, removed make up and skin was soft afterwards. But my eyes can’t take it - stung like no other cleanser. I’m a contact lens wearer so my eyes are a bit sensitive. If that’s also you, I’d avoid this around the eye area.

Does the job effectively even removes heavy makeup and eye makeup - no additional eye makeup remover required. I love how soft my skin is after applying this.
