Stripping back unnecessary packaging and misleading ingredients, The Ordinary offers an abundance of brilliant, high-performance products at eye-wideningly reasonable prices – and their Squalane Cleanser is no exception! Carefully formulated for all skin types, this clever potion dissolves make up and the day's dirt while simultaneously moisturising with a combination of squalane and other lipophilic esters.
This gentle cleanser is anything but ordinary, removing make up and impurities as it retains your skin's moisture – unlike some harsher cleansers, there's no need to worry about tightness after using this. Star of the show is squalane, a first-class hydrator that's found naturally in the skin, helping to prevent loss of moisture and boost suppleness. This combines with other lipophilic esters to dissolve make up and unwanted grime for clean and clog-free pores. The hard-working formula feels balm-like when first applied, changing to a clear oil-like texture when warmed into your skin – an important feat that allows emulsifying sucrose esters to capture the dissolved make up and dirt and rinse them away. Free from soap, which can cause irritation or 'strip' the skin, this crowd-pleasing cleanser respects your complexion's natural epidermal lipids, making it suitable for all skin types – even sensitive ones.

Blah
It is not the best cleansing product. It works but I would not buy it again. It works for removing makeup but not great as you need a generous amount of product.

Great!
I love this cleanser! Creamy at first, then oily. I would recommend rubbing it between your hands first, then applying it to your face, as it takes a while to melt. It helped my dry combination skin a lot. it hydrates and leaves a super soft skin texture. Just a pity that it's been out of stock for 4 months now.

Not the best
This is okay, it does remove makeup and sunscreen, but you have to rub it a lot before it melts, which I really don't like. I had to melt it in my hands before applying. There are plenty of other options at the same price point that are much easier to use. I give it 4 stars as I feel it will be very good if you have dry skin - it doesn't strip it skin at all, very nourishing.

Everything you want in a cleanser
It's my go to, fuss free and genuinely works, soothing and easy to use, my skin feels so much better after.

Not a fan
I wasn’t a fan of this unfortunately. The consistency was cream/oily and didn’t take any makeup off or cleanse my face, I felt I had to cleanse again with another product after using this product. I bought it as I read it was good for combination skin and I’m prone to oil but I think this made me oilier.

Excellent for removing makeup
I don’t use this at all for cleansing my skin as it works much better as the first step of a double cleanse to remove makeup. It easily emulsifies all the makeup which can then be removed with cotton wool pads dipped in hot/warm water. Follow this up with your regular cleanser and treatments and I promise your skin will be back to normal after a whole day of makeup. Very pleased with this product and such a good price.

Disappointed
I really had high hopes for this as I love the ordinary but sadly I was left very disappointed. Very thick and would not emulsify. So could not get it off all. I sprang a lot longer on my facial routine because of it. In shock.

The best cleanser I've ever used
I have dry to normal skin and this is the best cleanser I have found for my skin type! It is not stripping on my face which is a problem I have had with other cleansers, and it leaves my skin feeling moisturised yet cleansed effectively. Is also great for removing makeup- when I've followed with micellar water there hasn't been anything left! This cleanser does it all and I can't recommend it enough for the price- the only issue is the 50ml ran out quite fast, so I've now bought a 150ml size!

Milky, light, yet works its magic
Use it for makeup removal mostly. Prefer it more than the oil unless it's a heavy makeup day. You can still use it as a single cleanser if wearing minimum or zero makeup. It's has a milky texture, doesn't run out of your hands or face till you start spreading it and massaging your face. Getting rinsed easily. Tried using it as a classic makeup removal milk and a cotton pad. Not the way to go (at least for me) as it's getting into the pad more than onto the face. Will consider repurchasing it.

Simple and effective
I bought this after suffering a bout of fungal acne on my face and body. It has helped my skin so much.
