This multipurpose powerhouse uses a modified sulphate derivative called SLES-2 (at a minimal concentration of just 4%) as a cleansing agent to dissolve the barrier between dirt and oil on your skin, scalp and hair. I found that I really had to work hard to get a lather with this shampoo, I’ve used other sulfate-free products which did a much better job of lathering. This didn’t leave my hair feeling clean, and it dried out my hair so much. Love the ordinary, but won’t be repurchasing.

If, like me, you enjoy being able to lather your hair cleanser/ shampoo into your hands before first application then this isn’t for you. It’s one step up from water consistency and nothing like a shampoo. Bottle looks cute in the shower though, deserves a star for that alone!

It’s a bit of a learning curve to get used to as it doesn’t foam, but I’m halfway through the bottle and my scalp dermatitis is GONE. No sebum, no flakes, no soreness or itching. A little drying on lengths but conditioner fixes that. Hair looks clean, volumised, soft and shiny and my natural wavy texture looks great. Will be repurchasing.

I use a lot of products for The Ordinary and I absolutely love them, but this just isn't one of them. It doesn't foam at all, and it left my curly hair feeling dry and impossible to style. I used the rest of it up as a body shampoo, but it wasn't much better that way either.
