If you've been dreaming of adding Then I Met You to your skin care rituals, chances are this is the formula that captured your attention. Earning glowing write-ups from the beauty buffs at Allure, Glamour and Refinery29, not to mention copious awards - you're looking at Caroline Hirons' Choice for 2020 Product of the Year - the Living Cleansing Balm melts away sunscreen, make up and excess sebum to reveal a perfectly refreshed, calm complexion. The supremely sensorial formula has hints of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit to delight your senses as vitamin E and plant oils feed your face with antioxidants and fatty acids and free it from impurities. It was all so dull, then we met the Living Cleansing Balm...
A staple in the rituals - it transcends the passive act of routine - of beauty editors and skintellectuals alike, Then I Met You's Living Cleansing Balm effortlessly melts away make up, sunscreen and excess sebum while feeding your skin with antioxidants and fatty acids.
The ultimate first cleanse, this sorbet-soft balm is designed to be massaged into skin - pause to appreciate the sensorial notes of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit - to easily melt away oil-based impurities. It's crafted from a luxurious blend of lightweight plant oils including sea buckthorn oil (adored for its abundance of fatty acids such as stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and omega 6); olive oil (a nourishing antioxidant that boasts anti-inflammatory properties and supports your skin barrier); finally, grapeseed oil (an antioxidant-rich emollient that nourishes as it gently lifts impurities - cue round of applause). It doesn't end with that holy trinity of oils though - it's also laced with persimmon extract to protect your skin from free radicals and promote a brighter tone, plus vitamin E to promote a healthy, youthful finish. We're so glad we met this formula...
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive), Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil (Grape), Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-8 Isostearate, Cera Microcristallina, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Ceresin, Synthetic Wax, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract (Persimmon), Aniba Rosaeodora Wood Oil (Rosewood), Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil (Grapefruit), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary), Tocopheryl Acetate, 1,2-hexanediol, Bis-diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, BHT, Limonene
As there are differences between US and European labelling requirements, you may notice a slight variation amongst ingredient listings on differing sites. Limonene, for example is a compound found in Grapefruit Oil, and the UK requests it to be listed out separately. Then I Met You can assure you that all products boast the same formulation, with the same sorbet soft texture that everyone loves!
For the latest information, it is recommended to review the ingredient list printed on the packaging of the product prior to usage or consumption.
For the first step of your double cleanse, use the spatula to scoop a dime-sized amount onto dry skin and gently massage in circular motions. Add a splash of warm water to emulsify and remove oil-based impurities. Rinse thoroughly before moving to step two, a water-based cleanse with the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel.
Transparency lies at the heart of our philosophy which is why we have partnered with tech-platform - Provenance - to cut through the industry "noise" and equip you with key facts that matter. A 'proof point' with a green tick means a third party has verified the accuracy of the statement whereas no green tick means that there isn't independent confirmation (yet!), but that the brand has still supplied substantiating evidence (which you can view yourself). Buttery smooth balm cleanser
Love this product! I saw Caroline Hirons mention this and as soon it was available on Cult I purchased it. It is worth the hype. The product just melts as soon as you apply it on to your skin. My skin feels softer and smoother. I will be repurchasing again and again.

SUPERB cleanser
Oh my word. Where do I start? I bloody love this cleanser. I wasn't looking for a new cleanser as I'm very loyal to my Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel but somehow got sucked into the hype when Caroline Hirons started raving about this one. The scent is spa-like, the texture is dreamy and it just gets the job done in the best possible way. One thing that surprised me as no one really mentioned it in their reviews: it's also refreshening! Which is definitely a bonus during the hotter months of the year. If you love Clinique Take The Day Off Balm you will be blown away by Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm. For me this is going to be a staple in my skincare stash.

Worth the wait.. lives up to the hype
This product is unbelievable. If you are an Emma Hardie moringa cleansing balm fan, well meet your new best friend. It feels like butter gliding on your skin and is super hydrating. It’s so hydrating that for the first time in 5 years I forgot to moisturise after cleansing because my skin felt so soft and hydrated. If you are contemplating buying this…. well don’t, just buy it.

Love it
I was really keen to try this after Caroline Hirons recommended it and I luckily got it when it was available. It’s already sold out so it must be popular. I’m a big Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm fan and this is just as nice. I wouldn’t say it leaves my face as hydrated as the Emma Hardie one but it’s so fun to use - fun packaging and the little scooper is really cool to scoop out the gorgeous scented butter. I will be repurchasing.

Fantastic
A bit of a sensory overload when I first put it on due to strong scent and he orange/yellow colour but that actually helped me to see if I emulsified all of it off my face while cleansing. Some solid balm cleansers leave me feeling like i've still got a film over my skin but this felt like it cleansed and left my skin as it should. Cheaper ones out there but using this one feels like a treat as well as doing its job.

Amazing Product
I've been waiting to try this for so long and it did not disappoint! I have very sensitive skin and had no issues. Smells and feels amazing, and my skin is actually feeling so much softer now. Will be buying this again and trying the other products!

Love it
I bought this initially with the Soothing Tea Gel. It is the perfect double cleanse duo. I use it usually after work to remove my makeup effectively. Leaves my skin soft and not dried out. I have acne prone skin (oily skin).

Worth the hype and wait…
Having eagerly awaiting this to go live on Cult Beauty I can confirm it was worth the wait and most definitely not disappointing. There have been such high expectations for this product and it’s lived up to the hype. A perfect first cleanse, the smooth balm melts beautifully into the skin. I then added warm water and continued to rub into the skin emulsifying the product, all traces of SPF and daily grime are gone. The smell, feel of my skin after just amazing. Thanks Cult Beauty for bringing this brand to the UK. Will certainly be buying the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel for a 2nd cleanse now.

Worth the wait and hype!.
I’ve wanted to try this ever since skin queen Caroline Hirons raved about it as her product of 2020 and I’m so glad I snapped one up before they sold out like Adele tickets. It’s such a beautiful cleanser and it isn’t a lumpy balm you have to squash down like lumps of butter it just melts immediately on application. It is such a pleasure to use and it definitely gets off every scrap of SPF and debris of the day. My face felt super soft after and I can’t wait to use it again. It’s made me want to try more of the range. Thank you Cult for bringing this brand to the UK!
