Established in the 17th century, Cire Trudon is the oldest candle maker in the world and was responsible for perfuming the persons - and the palaces - of the French monarchy (until Napoleon staked his claim to the country and its première candle creators). A welcome addition to any bedside table, desk or mantelpiece, Trudon's Gloria Classic Candle transports the senses to a festive evening at a joyous carol concert.

Part of the spicy fragrance family, this scented creation is beautifully housed in hand-blown glass, bearing the brand's signature gold emblem. The fragrance opens with head notes of cardamom, coriander and orange on a base of amber, cedarwood, Indonesian patchouli and vetiver. All this is then wrapped around spicy notes of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with a hint of citruses (Italian lemon and orange from Brazil, to be specific). It's a seasonal blend of sweet, smoke and spice, reminiscent of a glass of steaming hot mulled wine.

In order to get the most out of your candle, burn it until the entire surface of the candle melts. To preserve the fragrance, do not burn your candle for more than 2 hours at a time during the first third of the candle and 1 hour at a time during the remaining.

Should the wick require centring, gently readjust to correct position when the wax is still molten. Allow candle to solidify before relighting. Should any black smoke appear, trim the tip of the wick. It should be clean and no longer than 5mm at all times.

Always protect the table or surface on which the candle rests (with a wood or ceramic plate, for example).
