If ‘Vicks Vaporub’ was a cleanser
It looks, feels and definitely smells of Vicks Vaporub, which is not something you want to put on your face for cleansing. A budget friendly option for a first cleanser if you don’t wear make up but that’s about all it’s good for. Will not repurchase.

Not effective enough
This balm is beautifully smooth and feels lovely going on, but it doesn’t clean quite well enough.

Greasy
It has a strong smell of tiger balm. It does an okay job of removing makeup, but it leaves a greasy residue that has to be removed with a second cleanser. Don't try and remove eye makeup with this, your eyes will sting.

Not what I hoped for
I had high expectations but this product did not live up to them. The consistency whilst on your face is weird and it doesn’t leave my face feeling like its totally clean and also my face feels dehydrated after use.

I’ve tried much better cleansing balms than this but for the price, you can’t really knock it. I won’t be purchasing again but this would suffice if you were on a low budget and it does take all your makeup off.

Value for money
I’ve bought two tubs of this now and will be keeping it as part of my skincare routine long term. I use it as the first step in my cleansing routine, to get rid of makeup. I follow up with a gel or cream cleanser (depending on time of year). As some people have noted, it can leave eyes a bit blurry and leave a slight residue, but I find that’s all solved by following a double cleanse routine. Ultimately, it does what it’s meant to - remove makeup. It even says in the description that it’s meant for a “first cleanse”. If you use it this way, it works wonderfully!

Unimpressed
The balm doesn’t emulsify much (even when using the suggested dime-size amount). I expected it to become milky when water was added but it just stayed oily. It didn’t remove makeup effectively (had to use it three times to get my foundation to budge) and didn’t leave me with that satisfyingly clean-but-not-squeaky-clean feeling that I’ve experienced with oil cleansers. It does a decent job of removing sunscreen, so it’s acceptable for double-cleansing. I love the clove fragrance but I have read that Eugenol should be avoided in skin care products, which is a bit worrying. The single star is mostly due to the fact the ingredients list on the bottom of the pot is different to what’s listed on Versed’s website and this product page! I know ingredients can have different names and formulations change but I wouldn’t have purchased this product if I had *actually* known what was in it (especially the first few ingredients listed).

Maybe I'm doing it wrong?
I just don't understand how this stuff works. I've used emulsifying oils before and this just doesn't seem to do the job. It doesn't emulsify properly after following the instructions so the oil is just left on your skin and I feel as though I need to cleanse again to remove the oil from my pores. Really unimpressed. Luckily it was cheap so I don't feel too burned.

Satisfied
So glad I invested in this product. I used to spend tons of money on other cleansers but ever since I found this cleanser I never looked back! :)

Absolutely love it!
Absolutely love this cleanser. I've recently added this to my evening routine as recommended by a Cult Beauty advisor over insta chat. My skin just looks so much fresher day and night. I'm sure it has even made my eyelashes grow?! Could this be possible?! I do not know!
