Doesn’t emulsify

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

This smelt nice and like all nice smelling cleansing oils felt lux. However it doesn’t emulsify at all which makes it useless for everyday use. Who has the time to have a stack of fresh hot towels to wipe off? And forget about using a gentle/ non stripping cleanser as your second cleanse as it cannot get rid of the oil slick. The acne girl in me is mentally triggered by this cleansing oil in soo many ways. TLDR- not for the faint hearted- you’ll need fresh hot towels and a detailed second cleanse.

Indulgent cleansing

Love the feel and the smell. It’s a bit of a spa-y cleansing experience, and works well. Skin feels clean and soft after using - as long as you follow the instructions. You do have to use the cloth to remove it properly.

Worth the pricetag

I choose this as a free sample in a previous order as I’d read oils are great as a first cleanse / to remove make up. This stuff makes taking off make up effortless and leaves your skin feeling nice and soft. Will be buying regularly.

Dreamy

Believe the hype! It’s a beautiful product to use as a first cleanse. Melts away makeup and SPF. And the smell! Gorgeous! Must be followed by a gel/cream based cleanser as it does leave a slight residue on the skin otherwise.

Votary cleansing oil

Lovely cleansing oil, thicker than previous oils I’ve used but leaves the skin hydrated, great for winter use or ageing skin like mine

Great Cleansing Oil

Love this cleansing oil - feels beautiful on the skin as you apply like a mini facial and lifts makeup easily and fully. A second cleanse normally shows no residual traces of makeup have been left behind!

Beautiful cleanser

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I have balm and oil cleansers galore, but I am always on the hunt for something new that might take a prime spot on my shelfie. This removes makeup beautifully, smells divine (coming from someone who doesn't normally love rose), and leaves my skin feeling so soft and nourished. I do prefer an oily cleanser to emulsify a little more on contact with water, so I always make sure to follow this with a second cleanser as my combo skin does still feel a little residue. That being said, I think a dry skin type would adore this and would find that more of comforting hydration than a film on the skin.

Not my favourite from their range

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

I am obsessed with their Super Seed Cleansing Oil so I was expecting to love this one just as much. Sadly this didn't work for me just because I'm really not a fan of Chamomile so I didn't enjoy the sensorial experience. Being quite sensitive to scents I cannot use a product no matter how good it is if it has a fragrance that I dislike. If you do enjoy that type of scent, absolutely go for it because the ingredient list and the quality of the oils are insanely good and it removes makeup really well!

Votary cleanser

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

This cleanser feels nice on the skin, removes makeup well but this oil itself does not emulsify into a milk when water is added.... it leaves an oily film on the skin so I would recommend this cleanser as a first cleanse.

Just stunning

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

Before using this, I was never loyal to any particular 1st cleanse. I'd tried a fair few but never put much thought into it as it was simply to remove make up. On a whim, I decided to try this. I'd read the reviews - it sounded amazing, but I just didn't think I'd be blown away by a cleanser. Well, long story short, I was. In terms of removing make up - it does that and it does it effortlessly. Massaging this into the skin feels so luxurious and calming. It doesn't leave a horrid oily residue on the skin yet your face feels soft, cleansed and nourished. The scent is uplifting and fresh without being too natural/herby and potent. I actually enjoy removing my make up now! Is that weird...? Also, since I've been using this my skin has been looking really radiant - and I haven't changed anything else up in my routine! It also comes with a cloth, which is excellent at gently exfoliating the skin and is fantastic quality (compared to others I've tried). So naturally, I went on to purchase the five-pack (one for each day of the week). Finally, if that wasn't enough, it's vegan and cruelty free. Plus, the packaging is just beautiful. All round goodness from Votary.
